I’m Sadia Haro, and I’m going to be giving you my first interview as an artist.

I’ve been a singer-songwriter for a while now, and I’m super excited to talk about how my career got started. The truth is, it started with one little song called mumina taa abbo golo. I was singing it for Mumina Bonaya in Isiolo County back in February of this year. It was about the women running for office in the Kenyan general elections, and it turned out to be so well-received that people were coming to me on a daily basis asking me to write songs for them!

Since then, I’ve been working on a lot of different kinds of songs—political ones, love songs, even some funny ones! And sometimes they all come together at once: You might hear me singing one political song during one party or another and then hear a totally different one on your next trip down memory lane when you look at old pictures of yourself from when you were younger.
